Lau Hui Yew: Barisan can deliver changes in Sibu
Politically, it was proven that only Barisan Nasional can deliver.
Barisan Nasional candidate, Robert Lau Hui Yew, says only Barisan can deliver. Like the voter, he, too, wanted positive changes in Sibu but he felt it must come in stages.
“I will bring about changes for the betterment of all Sibu folk,” he said, adding that his DAP rival Wong Ho Leng was a two-term Bukit Assek assemblyman but had failed to bring any positive change to Sibu.
He appealed to the voters to vote for him for more development and a stable country.

Who is Winning the Election BN or DAP?
It’s a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional's candidate Robert Lau Hui Yew, DAP's Wong Ho Leng and independent Narawi Harun in the Sibu Parliamentary by-election.
Ironically, it goes without saying that this will certainly be a closely-fight between BN and DAP.Undeniably, BN has an upper hand in this by-election.It is widely believed that BN will win the by-election.
The predicted BN's eventual victory is base on the track record of the ruling party and government performance, social networking efficacy, and early adoption of candidacy which led us to believe that BN is more effectively leveraging the supporters, giving BN a decisive advantage over
the campaign base on nasional issues that the opposition is running.
Winning campaigns aren’t based on guesswork but cold hard facts otherwise. BN looks to be on the right track to win and the win would mean that SUPP is on the way to regain lost ground.
One of the key pieces of data on effective campaign is require a detail planning and execute its campaign strategy is a good voter list.Obviously, the SUPP has the detail voter lists and effective door knockers to carry out door-to-door campaigning.

Ting Ling Kiew, who maintains that he is the rightful deputy despite being sacked from the party a year ago, is urging all party members to support the BN in the Sibu by-election.

Although Narawi contested in 1995 against the late Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew and DAP's Wong Ho Leng, garnering 975 votes.The Sibu parliamentary constituency has 54,695 voters, of those who have registered, 5,740 are Malay/Melanau (10.5 per cent), 36,389 Chinese (66.7 per cent), 48 Indians (0.1 per cent), 12,050 Ibans and other natives (22.1 per cent) and others.
There are 2,537 postal voters comprising mostly army personnel at two military camps, and police personnel.
Based on previous voting trends, with the last one in the 2008 parliamentary election, only about 45% of the Chinese voted for BN.

Robert Lau Hoi Chew's victory was mainly due to the fact that he received a high number of votes from Iban, Malay/Melanau and postal votes.

Barisan's Robert lawyer Lau Hui Yew, who is the Sibu SUPP assistant treasurer, 45, is defending the predominantly Chinese urban seat following the death of Deputy Transport Minister and five-term Sibu MP Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew on April 9.
Sarawak DAP chairman and Bukit Assek assemblyman Wong Ho Leng, 50, contest against Hui Yew.

Narawi, a businessman now, worked with the National Registration Department for a year, and then joined the army, where he served for 10 years before becoming a Rela officer.
In the 2008 general election, Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew retained the Sibu seat with a 3,549-vote majority, beating Ho Leng and Lim Chin Chuang of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in a three-cornered fight.
Sibu has 54,695 voters, comprising 52,158 ordinary voters and 2,537 postal voters made up of 1,910 military and 627 police personnel.
According to the electoral roll, updated as of April 9 this year, Chinese voters make up almost 67 per cent of the total number of voters, followed by Malay/Melanau (10.5 per cent) and Sarawak Bumiputeras (22 per cent).
