Dr. Mahathir Mohamad - a Malaysian legend


Finally Malaysia longest-serving Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has returned and became the world’s oldest leader.


After leading Malaysia from 1981 to 2003, now the 93-year Pakatan Harapan (PH) president Dr. Mahathir Mohamd, has finally unseat the scandal-tainted - the multi-billion-dollar scandal 1MDB current Prime Minister Najib Razak in the May 9 the Malaysia 14th General Election which ended the UMNO–BN 61 year monopoly power.
 

By using PKR's logo to contest, Pakatan Harapan (PH) is the opposition coalition led by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, which comprises PKR, DAP, Bersatu and Amanah, and the Sabah-based Warisan.


The PH has secured 113 seats in the House of Representatives compared to just 79 for BN out of 222 in total to form the federal government.



Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was sworn in as Malaysia's 7th Prime Minister on Thursday night (May 10 2018). The start of the MAHATHIR legend marks the end of the RAHMAN legend about Malaysia’s Prime Minister with Najib as the “N”.



The RAHMAN legend was started with Tunku Abdul Rahman (R) and ended with Najib Razak (N) as follows:


1. Rahman - (Tunku Abdul Rahman)

2. Abdul - ( Abdul Razak)

3. Hussein ( Hussein Onn)

4. Mahathir ( Mahathir Mohamad)

5. Abdullah (Abdullah A. Badawi), and

6. Najib ( Najib Razak)



The new Malaysia’s legend of MAHATHIR will be as follows:

Residents living near Nilai industrial estate face air pollution challenges




Residents living near industrial areas are facing industrial pollution problems as industry produces pollutants such as organic substances, toxic chemicals, noise and odor. They usually file the complaints about health including a wide range of symptoms, diseases especially poor quality of life.


Undeniably, the convenience of the residents of Nilai living near industrial areas are being close to commercial hubs and Nilai industrial estate, however, the foremost emerging problem arises, they  are facing with the problems related to environmental pollution. 

They are suffering from some of the air pollution which is mainly caused by gas emission and the exceeding permitted levels of numerous toxic substances from the factories nearby. 


The causes of Nilai’s environmental hazards caused by the multi exposure to chemicals combined with exposure to odors can be attributed to the output from manufacturing; it’s industrial air pollution


The effect of the daily deteriorating quality of air which contributes to poorer health is becoming evident daily, some gradual, some sudden. This is threatening resident’s livelihood.

Undeniably, economic development is certainly leading to increase the level of air pollution; the people and the surrounding environment are seriously affected by the poor air quality. In no doubt that air pollution is the price pay for development. 

Economists use opportunity cost to weigh decisions, in order to make the best decision and get the biggest benefits. If the air pollution continues to rise at an alarming rate, it will wreak havoc on human health and it’s a terrible cost to society.


The question remains: Should drastic action be taken against the defaulting companies along with the improvement of the weak emission control measures which have resulted in an increase in air pollution?
