Sibu Island is one of the 13 islands in the Pulau
Tinggi Marine Park. These islands are located off the northeast coast of the
state Johor and between 8 to 35 nautical miles from Mersing. The island group
and its surrounding waters was gazette as a Marine Park in 1994 under the
Fisheries Act 1985 9Amended 1993).

The Department of Marine Park, a federal agency
under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE), has been tasked to protect,
conserve and manage in perpetuity marine ecosystem of significance especially
coral reefs and associated flora and fauna for future generation.

The prohibited activities including water skiing,
speed boat racing, Jet Ski, destroying, removing or collecting any coral and
other aquatic life, vandalizing any structure, anchoring boats over coral areas
and constructing anything within Marine Park areas. Do not bring in any exotic
species plants and animals, all fishing activities are prohibited within the
marine park.
Any
conviction can result in fine up to RM20,000 or imprisonment
not more than 2 years or both.
The best way to Sibu Island is from the main staging
point Tanjung Leman jetty, Mersing, Johor. The resort provided 20 minute journey on the ultra-comfortable,
air-conditioned 50-seater twin-hulled catamaran for those who booked the
hotel room in advance.
