Program Kembara Bersama Media, NRE 2013

The Kembara Bersama Media, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment can be used as a smart collaboration platform between the mass media and NRE in order to help NRE on displaying the efforts being made for leading towards sustainable management of the natural resources and conservation of the environment.

Dato’ Sri Zoal Azhabin Yusof, Secretary General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment made the remark during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Crown of Thorns (C.O.T) and Reef Clean up at Perhentian Island 2013 and Program Kembara Bersama Media, NRE 2013. It was held on 5 April 2013. Sixteen participants from RTM1, Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, New Straits Times and PROs from NRE and agencies under the ministry took part in the event.

                KSU is launching C.O.T Program 

During its original run in 2010, the Kembara Bersama Media program was successfully organized and achieved 8 times a year for the first year.

“Due to the success of the Kembara Bersama Media Program which was started in 2010 in accordance with the instruction from Dato Sri Douglas Uggah Embas, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, the ministry decided the Program organized by the Corporate Communications Unit, NRE can be strengthen further in the year 2013,” he said.

He says, the NRE’s "flagship" has also been recommended by Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) Star Rating Inspectorate Team as the Best Practices in Promoting the Ministry and Department to the public through the media.

He hopes the briefing and the activities undertaken by the program can provide information about the Ministry and in particular the role of the Department of Marine Park Malaysia in the conservation of marine biodiversity.

The main activities that make the program unique include Department of Marine Park’s social responsibility programmes for the Perhentian Island residents and women's community, the success of the Perhentian Islands Marine Park program, the crown of Thorns (C.O.T) and Reef Clean up Program 2013.
