Semporna Gian Triton - Huge sea snail shell

The shells of sea snails- Giant or trumpet Triton, found in Semporna, Sabah is one of the largest snails. Giant Triton, the huge sea snail shells lives on the ocean floor.

Adult Triton are active predators and feed on other molluscs and starfish. They generally live near the coral reef.

It is argued that the excessive collecting of giant triton may have contributed to the Crown of Thorns starfish plagues which devastate coral reefs including our own Great Barrier Reef.
