The traditional Chinese
village is more like the places that freed from busy lives in
the noisy and congested cities. Surrounded by oil palm estate, the places preserved
their own paces and original lifestyle.
Although it’s essential to view
village, to widen their development base and meet growing needs, but unfortunately, there is no development taking place at the small village and there are no
silver-bullets that can just fire to solve the development problem.
Ironically, urbanization has significant
economic effects on the town itself and surrounding areas.
Moreover, the effects of urban sprawl
can be
devastating or subtle in and around large, medium-sized, and small cities, as well as small town.
As the populations
of the town grow, automatically the demand for goods and services of all kinds
will increase, pushing up prices of these goods and services, as well as the
price of land. However, it’s extremely difficult for the Kg Seri Batu 8 Labu village to get the effects
of urban sprawl as the degree of urbanization in
Seremban town remains questionable.
However, the positive consequences as well as the effect of urban growth and sprawl from the fast growing burgh
in Nilai town nearby has been provided opportunity for the village becoming
magnets for the rapid growth.
Ultimately, the
rapidly growing Nilai will be developed into an industrial hub under the
Malaysian Vision Valley project, a dedicated rail line to transport the goods
will be built to keep the cost low.
On the other hand, according to the reports, the Express Rail Link
(ERL) service between KL Sentral and KLIA will be extended up to the upcoming
high speed rail (HSR) terminal in Labu, Seremban.
Besides that, the
Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line also to be extended from Kajang to Labu, where
the HSR station would be built. This is the fuelling factors for the village’s
rapid growth.
The cost
of living here is almost the same as the town nearby. Although
the prices of goods and services still affordable but it appears a bit high for
the villages.
Currently, a small bowl
of Pan mee is RM5.00 but before GST consumer only pays RM3.00. Villages accused that GST
is the sole and the real cause of price hikes.
Certainly, urban sprawl has
both positive and negative effects on the areas and the peoples
especially the drastic change in the social
structure, thus measure should be taken to prepare the people from drastic
changes in respond rapidly to changing economic.
