Chinese government access 80% of World’s Communications by “electronic backdoor”

Information as weapon is essential to win the modern warfare and world domination seem to be proven by the track record of U.S. and now by the Chinese government.

"Chinese capabilities in computer network operations and Cyber Espionage has advanced sufficiently to pose a genuine risk to U.S. military operations in the event of a conflict."

"The electronic intrusions by the Chinese are done remotely through the use of the commercial networks set up by Huawei and ZTE that they have established in numerous countries."

“The Chinese government and its People’s Liberation Army are acquiring the access through two Chinese companies, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd and ZTE Corporation,”telecommunications experts said.

Sources point out that the Chinese make use of telecommunications equipment from Huawei and ZTE very attractive by offering subsidized deals through Chinese banks at non-commercial terms with which Western companies cannot compete.

The source referred to Huawei’s ability through its DPI technology for “data mirroring,” was just “plain old interception.”

"The Chinese government has “pervasive access” to some 80 percent of the world’s communications, giving it the ability to undertake remote industrial espionage and even sabotage electronically of critical infrastructures in the United States and in other industrialized countries," writes Maloof, Former senior security policy analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Pentagon.

With this access, the sources say, the Chinese are working on the other 20 percent. The two companies give the Chinese remote electronic “backdoor” access through the equipment they have installed in telecommunications networks in 140 countries. The Chinese companies service 45 of the world’s 50 largest telecom operators.

He goes further to say the Chinese are working to access the remaining 20 percent. Individuals and companies who communicate over their “virtual private networks” or VPNs are especially susceptible. 

Sources told Maloof those networks are leaking like a “sieve” to Chinese data collectors, especially those that connect to companies based in places like Mexico.

Sustainable economy - Nasa: Malaysia sees 115% jump in deforestation in first 3 months of 2013

In development a sustainable economy, environment, development and sustainability are the controversial issues. Although more emphasis and responsibility are the priority factors but due to the complex interactions between development and environment, the environmental impacts of socio-economic development seemed to be bothering some.

The experience of developing countries clearly showed that natural resources have historically been exploited for growing economies. Many of the developed countries had long ago been through the path of utilizing natural resources to develop the economy. 

The successes of the developed nations in quest to build the economies had shown the failures of conserving their natural heritage. The new emerging economies are just repeating the path of the developed economy.

To seek ways and means for achieving sustainability to create win-win situation in all human activities aimed at such development should be by far the ultimate aim and basic principle. Positive actions and measures to solve the problem should therefore be taken to address the long arising issue.

It was reported that Malaysia saw a 115% increase in deforestation during the first three months of 2013, according to a forest tracking tool developed by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) researchers.

Malaysia's figure was the highest among five countries where deforestation was detected, followed by Nepal (114%), Mexico (92%), Argentina (72%), and Madagascar (51%).

Nasa's Quarterly Indicator of Cover Change, a satellite-based tool that underpins environment watchdog Mongabay.com's Global Forest Disturbance Alert System, noted the jump earlier this month.

Christopher Potter, a senior research scientist at the Nasa Ames Research Center, told the environment watchdog that Malaysia has a deforestation hotspot on the western coastal area of Perak.

"Many areas in Sarawak have been detected with forest cover change over the past two years," Potter said.

Chinese meat rolls

Once upon the times, the performances of Chinese opera, echoing the alluring fascination of ancient China, were a popular part during the most important annual temple festivals.

Heavily made-up, elaborately clad performers strut and rant in lilting tones on gaudy, makeshift stages erected in the stage in front of the temple attracted large crowds.

It’s fun; people were drawn to this type of Chinese opera. Food stalls were set up and Chinese meat fillet roll was one of the typical attractions.

The traditional way is to roll the meat mixture in bean curd sheets. The typical ingredients include meat, vegetable and then deep fried. It's very delicious and tasty.

MSPC/Rotary Integrity Awards Night recipient Mohd Yussainy

On Wednesday, June 12 2013 Malaysian Service Confederation (MSPC) and Rotary International D33000 (Malaysia) together with Malaysian of Institute of Integrity (IMM) at Royal Lake Club Kuala Lumpur jointly held their 4th Integrity Award Night.

Assistant Director (Consultancy & Quality Assurance) I, Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia Headquarters, Mohd Yussainy Bin Md Yusop was awarded Young Integrity Award. The other recipient was YM Tunku Zain Al-Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz.

“The value of integrity is often taken lightly. Most of us do not like labeled as someone without Integrity because this would mean that we are no trustworthy. But, what it means to have integrity is seldom understood, as we often see a "man of integrity" failing in walking the talk,” said Senator Datul Paul Low Seng Kuan, Minister in the Prime Minister Department.

Guests of Honor, Minister in the Prime Minister Department, Datul Paul Low Seng Kuan said, “I am indeed honored to be as he Guest of Honor on the occasion in the 4th Integrity Award Night, joinly organized by Malaysian Service Confederation (MSPC) and Rotary International D33000 (Malaysia) together with Malaysian of Institute of Integrity (IMM).”

“As a Minister in the Prime Minister Department in charge of promoting good governance and Integrity and eradicating corruption, it is heartening to see that the organizers of tonight's 4th Integrity Award Night had taken the initiative to select individuals of Integrity to recognize them."

He said, "We need true role models and I am sure that the recipients of the awards are worthy of this recognition and that they will continue to be strong influence in their profession and their carrier. Professionals with good talents and competencies but without having a strong competence.” 

“The Distinguished Judging Committee have deliberated over a few sessions on all the nominations and a detailed background check was also done to assist in the final selection of the candidates.”

It is important to note that the Judging Committee were very open in their approach and the discussion covers many aspects of the nominee's contribution and achievement and how their role has progress throughout their career.
