Unscrupulous PKR Nibong Tebal parliamentarian Tan Tee Beng

Politicians will do for fame or power. They are tempted to do unethical things to win elections or advance their careers, however their petty crimes are not just wrong, but ineffective.

They do not want to do the right thing because their self-interest points them toward doing something bad. The entire political class would be shocked and appalled by the specter of a parliamentarian murdering someone for personal gain. It does not constitute any legitimate reason to do the unethical thing toward their own comrades.

The overwhelming majority of PKR politicians who bother to dedicating their lives to securing vast political power because they actually wanted to accomplish something and get personal benefit. PKR Nibong Tebal parliamentarian Tan Tee Beng is a typical example.

He had been successfully launching scathing verbal attack on PKR deputy president Syed Husin and DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to gain unethical political mileage.

He waded into controversy as his remarks created a huge flutter. The unethical behavior was censured and concerns had been raised about the misconduct.

He apologized to Syed Husin Ali and retracted his remarks made against the PKR deputy president after two-hour disciplinary committee meeting at the PKR headquarters in Kuala Lumpur but not DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

The question arises : Should we support PKR and their unscrupulous politicians?

Nik Aziz says Zahrain should quit as MP

Bayan Baru Member MP Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim, who left the Pakatan coalition and declared himself an Independent MP on Friday, should quit being the MP for the constituency and pave the way for a by-election, said PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Nik Aziz, who is also Kelantan Mentri Besar, said Zahrain had betrayed the trust of voters in the constituency.

Ironically, the voters in Bayan Baru should keep their MP on their toes and make sure he does not betray the trust voters have put in them. They should consider it the most important vote that they had ever cast.

All those who betrayed the voters' trust should be punished and out of the office.

Bayan Baru Member MP Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim will be remembered as having betrayed the trust of their voters.

Powerful enough that he has made the voters afraid of supporting the PKR.

Undeniably, PKR has lost the reputation that the voters can trust. It’s not hard to understand why.

Anyway, what should the disappointed voters do? What can they do? Are they going to correct what is wrong?

PKR Lunas rep quits party

Lunas state assemblyman Mohd Radzhi Salleh announced Sunday he had quit Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to become an independent member of the Kedah legislative assembly.

Radzhi, who is chairman of the Tourism, Community Development and Human Resources Committee, said he would retain the post of state executive councillor as the appointment was made by the Sultan of Kedah.

His decision to leave PKR was due to a loss of confidence in the PKR leadership and in keeping with the dissolution of the PKR Padang Serai division announced by division acting chief Jamaludin Abu Hassan who himself had quit the party.

Ironically, a good leadership is all about integrity; therefore the question arises whether Anwar Ibrahim is a man of integrity?

Fairus claimed innocence

The former Penang deputy chief minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin broke his silence by claiming he had been cleared of all wrongdoings by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He said he was officially informed by a senior MACC officer that he had been cleared of all graft investigations against him.

The question arises: What qualities should the leader of PKR possess?

Fairus was embroiled in a controversy when PKR Kepala Batas youth leader Amizudin Ahmat lodged a report alleging that the former DCM has taken a RM10,000 bribe from a quarry operator.

Amizudin, who is allegedly linked to several Fairus detractors, also claimed that the former DCM was involved in covering up illegal quarry operations in Seberang Perai.

He first exposed the alleged bribery on Feb 27 at a press conference held at the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) office before lodging reports and submitting evidence to substantiate his claims to both MACC and the state PKR leadership.

On the other hand, Fairus maintained the RM10,000 was just a loan to sponsor a trip to London, and that he was planning to settle the sum soon.

Is Elizabeth Wong a morally corrupted PKR politician?

Selangor executive council member and Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong, whose nude photographs were being circulated, has resignation from both posts.

She was also the state EXCO member in charge of Tourism, Consumer Affairs and the Environment, and the information chief of the Women’s wing of PKR and of her division Petaling Jaya Utara.

Elizabeth Wong lodged a police report after being told of the photographs that have been circulating via MMS, apparently taken with a camera phone, called the entire episode an "intrusion of privacy" and was a malicious attack.

She says the photographs could have been taken by her former boyfriend. It was rumored that the photos may have been circulated by her ex-boyfriend whom allegedly broke up recently and he was said to have moved to another country.

It is reported by the press that photographs made available to the press showed Elizabeth Wong asleep with her glasses on and another of her in bed with her eyes closed. She was partially covered with a "sarung".

Nobody said that intrusion of privacy is ethical but nude photographs were taken shown that she is clever but not wise and smart as clever is to do with skills of mind, while wise and smart are for social skills and behavior conduct.

Politically, she is widely acknowledged and seems to be really a clever but somewhat a senseless PKR politician. In the faces of the morally and culturally conservative people of this country, as one of the pretty politicians who are unmarried, she has made a mistake in her personal life by trusting ex-boyfriend. As a public figure, the nude photographs mean misbehavior and morally corrupt in a way that does not please the people around.

By and large, moral systems exist to guide inter-personal relationships and protect society's integrity. Undeniably, moral systems evolved to appropriately meet the needs of the societies they serve.

The fact that, this is a moral issue; it is the issues of morality we are talking about, some sort of badge of higher moral standing to the status of being respected for remaining moral.

The questions remain: If the politician, who lives a rich materialistic life, how would the higher moral values and ethical behavior be achieved? Is it to be rich materialistically yet poor spiritually?

PKR : Dream different dreams while on the same bed

The loose coalition Pakatan Rakyat only held together by targeting of toppling the BN government. They do not have any common policy and stand on issues.


Everyone has a dream and is destined to fulfill them but not the Pakatan Rakyat. They have different dreams while on the same bed. As the Chinese proverb says, "We may sleep in the same bed, but we have different dreams."

The Impossible Pakatan Rakyat Dream can not possibly be realized even they try the radical political approach and wary among themselves. Ironically, it is a reality that even the closest people, husband and wife, will dream different dreams.


People are never alike in their minds. One got to be wary of even the people you trust the most.

The questions remain: Can we trust the coalition that cannot be trusted? Can you imagine what the world would be like; if we trust the politicians that they don't even trust themselves?

PKR camp is playing word games

Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam threaten to quit PKR is the ongoing internal political disputes in PKR. It reflects the political behavior of the politician which lack of political responsibility.


Ironically, the issue of the Kapar MP's threat to leave PKR reflects that the code of ethics for politicians are not only orthodoxy iconic but far more needed to uphold the political moral. It needs courage and a willingness to accept political costs.

The incident show PKR leaders in Selangor were playing word games. They are not united and cold towards each other whereas a few others were arrogant.

The voters need political parties and politicians that can hold responsible for their politics and ethics and not playing word games with them.

As the members of the loose opposition alliance, DAP too disagree with the move of S. Manikavasagam.

DAP chairman Karpal Singh said, the Kapar Member of Parliament should resign as MP and wait another five years before contesting.

He said S. Manikavasagam, who is expected to resign from Parti Keadilan Rakyat before the New Year, was elected as an MP on a PKR ticket.

"People did not elect him in his personal capacity. He has no right to leave PKR and join any other party.

"His only other option is to resign so that the people in the constituency can decide what they want," Karpal said.

PAS flexes its muscles again

Selangor PAS intended to impose a ban on the sale of alcohol at 7-11 outlets, mini-markets and coffee shops, is the latest political action taken by Selangor PAS.


The proposed ban was controversial and highly objectionable. The disputes and differences emerging are to the disappointment of civil society activists and ordinary people. It was said to weaken the governing coalition and providing the opportunity for BN to regain its political battle ground.

PAS flexes its muscles caused coalition partners DAP appeared locked in open dispute. PAS seems without due regard to its fellow coalition partners in essence infringes on the rights of others in the state of Selangor and would be deemed as arrogant and uncooperative.

Undeniably, PAS ideology is conflict with DAP and exposes the tussle between secular and conservative in the Pakatan Rakyat alliance. It suggests a lack of understanding of Malaysian real politics and against the spirit which its leaders have agreed upon.

State government of Perak is a chauvinist government

Perak state government's move to allocate 1,000ha of land to nine Chinese independent schools justified that it is a chauvinist government. For 50 years BN government not even allocates a single piece of land to Chinese independent schools as it is not in the main stream education of the country and shouldn’t be entertained.

The move not only was bias but politically motivated and populist step by Pakatan Rakyat to focus only on one type of school. There are so many religious private schools, missionary, Tamil schools and other institutions in the state.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today questioned the Perak state government's move to allocate 1,000ha of land to nine Chinese independent schools, saying it was politically motivated.



The Umno Youth chief also said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin should be fair towards other schools in need of similar aid. Nizar recently said the land was given to show appreciation and support to Chinese independent schools in the state.

He had said the land would enable the schools to generate revenue to pay for their operational expenses.

Hishammuddin said the move was only a populist step by Pakatan Rakyat as it was clearly one-sided and focused only on one type of school.
"There are so many schools out there in need of land. I challenge the MB to approve immediately land to religious private schools, missionary, Tamil schools and other institutions in the state. It is only fair that these schools are given the same treatment as those given to the nine Chinese private schools."

He said the ministry welcomed any move by individuals or companies to contribute towards the country's education system and schools.

However, assistance given should be done sincerely and not politically motivated without considering the feeling and sensitivity of other parties.

2 Perak PKR EXCOS nabbed by ACA, Perak Government falls into turmoil

Two Perak PKR state executive councilors and a former PKR state assemblyperson were among six people detained in an Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) operation.

The duo are Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu (PKR-Changkat Jering), who is exco for tourism, human capital and NGOs and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi (PKR-Behrang), the exco for entrepreneur development, agriculture and commerce.

The incident is expected to send the Perak government into turmoil as the Pakatan Rakyat government only holds a slim three-seat majority over Barisan Nasional.

In a statement, the ACA said the six were detained for alleged graft in relation to a RM180 million housing project in Seri Iskandar, about 30-minute drive south of Ipoh.

Five of them, aged between 45 and 57, were picked up yesterday following a public tip-off. Meanwhile Jamaluddin was arrested at 10.30am this morning when he surrendered himself to the ACA. He was accompanied by his lawyer.

"Three of the suspects, including an exco, were detained immediately after allegedly accepting RM100,000 in return for expediting the application process for a housing project worth RM180 million. They are also believed to be involved in sexual bribery.

The ACA also revealed that among those arrested were a Perak Tengah district councilor, a technician with the state development body and two businessmen. It is learnt that the two members of the state cabinet were not involved in sexual bribery.

According to the ACA, the five who were nabbed in a sting operation yesterday - including Mohd Osman, a retired army captain - were caught red-handed with RM100,000 found in a bag belonging to the exco at a hotel in Ipoh.

Several of them were spotted at the Ipoh Sessions Court today with handcuffs, and the five have been remanded for three days to facilitate investigations. They have yet been charged.

Jamaluddin, who has been taken in for questioning, is expected to be brought to court tomorrow. The ACA had earlier asked him to surrender himself to the agency following the arrest of the five at 6pm yesterday.

Changing the five state governments of coalition Pakatan Rakyat?

A time bomb has been set in the three-party opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat, with DAP openly declaring it now wants the alliance to review the membership of PAS in the coalition.

DAP national chairman Karpal Singh said PAS had thrown grave doubts over its credibility and Pakatan Rakyat should seriously consider, in view of events of late, whether PAS should be allowed continued membership in the alliance.

“The assurance by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to Pakatan Rakyat partners, that PAS will not abandon the alliance to join the BN, is not bona fide and is not supported by past events.


“After the March 8 general elections, PAS had talks with Umno to form a coalition government in Selangor. This was an act of bad faith as both DAP and PKR were not informed of such a move by PAS,” he said in a statement today.

Karpal also slammed the move by PAS to hold another round of talks with Umno “in the name of Malay unity”, calling this a “racial move” by PAS, which he claimed was incongruous with the policies of the DAP and Pakatan Rakyat.

Pakatan Rakyat, made up of DAP, PKR and PAS, rule five states, namely Kelantan, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak and Selangor. Any break-up in the coalition will result in change in the state governments of these states, except for Kelantan where PAS secures majority of the state seats.

Yesterday, PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat suggested that UMNO and PAS be dissolved and a new party formed to unite all Malays.

“Such a revelation is startling and has serious ramifications, implications and consequences. Nik Aziz’s statement reduces to nought Hadi Awang’s statement in Ipoh, also yesterday, that PAS would not merge with Umno or join Barisan Nasional.

“Obviously, statements made by PAS leaders of late, give the perception that they are out to scuttle the Pakatan Rakyat,” said Karpal.

Pakatan Rakyat files motion of no confidence against PM

Pakatan Rakyat Members of Parliament, led by MP for Permatang Pauh and PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Ismail, filed a motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister and his Cabinet after months of making the threat.

The Speaker promised to give full consideration to the motion but it has been understood that the motion will be rejected after it is read on Monday.

The motion, filed under Section 18 (1) and (2) of the House Standing Order, was passed to Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia at his office in Parliament House at 3.45pm.

Among others, the motion stated that the 12th general election witnessed a 'political tsunami' which saw five states and the Federal Territories falling into the hands of the Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional being denied a two-thirds majority.

"BN achieved its slim victory by manipulating the Election Commission and through lies.

"The price of fuel was suddenly raised after the elections although the deputy premier - while launching the election manifesto - promised this would not happen.

BN parliamentarians who rejected this irresponsible action of their leaders are threatened and forced not to speak out.

"This development has caused a crisis of confidence with the prime minister and his cabinet. The people are facing several crises such as an increase in the prices of fuel and foodstuff.

"In addition, the people's confidence in the police, attorney-general and judiciary is also on the decline. Crime and corruption is on the rise."

DR TAN KEE KWONG HAD NO FAITH IN BN

Another political blow to Gerakan as Federal Territory Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong had joined the opposition government. Federal Territory Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong was reported to have been accepted by the Selangor government to head a task force to improve the administration and policies concerning the problems of land ownership.

Earlier, former Gerakan deputy secretary-general Datuk Lee Kah Choon had accepted the post of director of the Penang Development Corporation and InvestPenang from the Pakatan Rakyat government in Penang.

It seems that PKR wants to achieve the political mileage through indulging at Gerakan's humiliation.

Hence, the interesting questions come across my little mind : Do you think they are humiliated to Gerakan and wrong morally? Do you think they are taking the right approach? Who is the next? How many other Gerakan members would remain in the party and have faith in the future of BN?

IS EZAM AN ASSET TO UMNO?

PKR's de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim’s former political secretary Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor rejoined UMNO shocked party members and it should be a blow to PKR.

Hence the questions arise: Can UMNO or UMNO president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi uses this as a leverage to strengthen UMNO and if so, to what extent? Is Ezam an asset to the party or otherwise?

Ezam Mohd Nor said his focus now was merely to help UMNO leadership in reforming the party and the government. He doesn’t want to be involved in any power struggle in the party.

He was previously sacked from UMNO in 1998 for criticizing the then president Dr Mahathir Mohamad for terminating Anwar from both the party and government.

He had been a vocal critic of Mahathir and then Abdullah. He played a vital role in the setting up of PKR in 1999 with Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. In the intervening years, he had been charged and jailed under the Official Secrets Act and the Internal Security Act for siding with Anwar. In PKR, he helmed the Youth wing from 1999 until 2005.

Last year he had a bitter fall out with Anwar and vice-president Azmin Ali. This followed an internal power struggle, which resulted in Ezam quitting the party.

Since then he had been critical of Anwar's style of leadership and Azmin's role as a dominant schemer in the party. After that he had concentrated on his anti-corruption NGO, Gerak, of which he was the head. He has now quit that post as well after joining UMNO.

PKR-PROJEK KHINZIR RAKSAKSA VS PBN-PROJEK BABI NEGARA

A new definition to the acronym PKR and PBN caught the Dewan Rakyat and public attention. This definition appears rarely and is evolutionarily distinct that showed the dilution of the extremely high sensitivity of the pig issue. It showed the openness and the first class mentality of the Malaysian politicians in handling of the highly sensitive issues.

Regardless the diffused sensitivity of the pig issues, pig-farming projects took cent restage in the Dewan Rakyat as MPs from both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat got into a got into a bit of mudslinging fight on Monday.

Khairy riled the Opposition MPs when he gave a new definition to the acronym PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat). He called it Projek Khinzir Raksasa (Gigantic Pig-farming project) -- an apparent reference to the Selangor government's approval of the pig-farming project in Sepang.

"A state government had put its priority in approving the Projek Khinzir Raksasa (Gigantic Pig-farming Project) or its short form PKR," said Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau) when highlighting the issue of self-sufficient commodities - rice, beef, vegetables and mutton.

This riled the Opposition, especially members of PKR, who stood up and defended their party.

But none of them was given a chance to interject as Khairy had been refusing to allow anyone to seek explanation since the beginning of his speech.

Not to be outdone, Mahfuz Omar (PAS - Pokok Sena) then took a pot shot back at Barisan Nasional by saying that PBN was meant for “Projek Babi Negara” (National Pig Farming Project) – a reference to BN.

PREVIOUS BN PIG FARM PROJECT TO PROCEED

The Selangor state government’s decision to continue with a RM100 million modern pig farming project in the state was under fire for being insensitive to Muslims. The serious question arises: What is the alternative practical solution to overcome the issue if not the said project or otherwise?

However, Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s office in a four-page statement highligh that the project was approved by the previous BN-led state government on January 30, 2008.

The statement said it was the state government’s aim to ensure the successfulness of the project and it would be implemented fairly by taking into account the sensitivities of the various races.

"At the state government meeting on April 2, 2008, we found that it is appropriate to continue the project but the implementation process to be strengthened."

The new Pakatan Rakyat state government said its decision was in view of the fact that the site at Kuala Langat, near Sepang had been Selangor’s main pig-rearing area and had fulfilled the environmental standards set by the authorities.

This includes that discharges from the farm will be recycled in the form of bio-gas to generate electricity and water for farm cleaning, as well as for the cultivation of food for the pigs.

"At the same time, with this project, no new pig-rearing farms will be approved in Selangor as all other pig-rearing farms outside of this area will be moved into this modern pig farming project.”

"This is in line with the Agriculture and Agro-based Ministry’s policy to have all pig farms in one area to ensure easier monitoring by the authorities."
